D. Robb Beeman

Robb Beeman joined Heenan Blaikie in 2000 after many years as a partner in a major Calgary law firm. He is a member of our firm’s National Management Committee. A civil litigation expert, he represents clients in commercial and intellectual property disputes. Over the course of his career, he has handled a wide range of cases, including those dealing with taxation, product liability, trade secrets, oil and gas, land claims, injunctions, wrongful dismissal and insurance.

In his quasi-criminal practice, Mr. Beeman acts on behalf of individuals, corporations and governments with respect to regulatory offences. He assists clients through the mechanisms of judicial dispute resolution, private mediation and arbitration. He has appeared before all Alberta courts, as well as the Federal Court of Canada and the Supreme Court of Canada. Mr. Beeman has been counsel to various administrative tribunals and royal commissions and is currently General Counsel for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Members’ Legal Fund.

Mr. Beeman is active in litigation and advocacy education as a lecturer for the Legal Education Society of Alberta, the Canadian Bar Association and the Federal Department of Justice. In addition, he has conducted seminars and training programmes to clients in an effort to help them avoid litigation.
