Peter Mantas An experienced litigation lawyer, Peter Mantas has acted as counsel at all levels of the Ontario and federal courts, including the Supreme Court of Canada, the courts in several other provinces, and various domestic and international tribunals. He has considerable expertise in complex litigation matters including class action and mass litigation cases, shareholder and oppression remedies, proceedings involving the federal government, injunctions, and in disputes involving cross-border issues.
Mr. Mantas is a member of the American Bar Association's subcommittees on International Class Actions and on Mass Torts, which are part of the Litigation Section's Committee on Class Actions and Derivative Suits. He is also a member of the New York State Bar Association's committees on International Labor and Employment Law and on Trade Secrets.
Prior to joining Heenan Blaikie, Mr. Mantas was the co-founder and managing partner of a law firm with offices in Ottawa and Toronto. During his law studies, he was a student at the Paris office of a U.S.-based law firm, Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton, and later at the Canadian International Trade Tribunal. In 2000, Mr. Mantas was named one of the city's top “Forty Under 40” by the Ottawa Business Journal. Education
