Bernard Amyot, Ad. E.

Bernard Amyot is a partner in our Litigation group, which he joined in 1997. For twenty-five years now, Mr. Amyot has managed a hybrid practice in both litigation and commercial law. He has extensive experience before the Quebec courts, representing in particular Canada’s leading investment dealers and several life insurance companies. He has lectured and written frequently on legal issues of interest to their operations.

Mr. Amyot represents clients in a variety of other business sectors including cosmetics, manufacturing, retail, real estate, construction and publishing.

Professional associations have experienced Mr. Amyot’s relentless commitment. In August 2007, after several years of involvement with the Canadian Bar Association, he became the Association’s National President for a one-year term. He also consistently took part in the activities of the Young Bar Association of Montréal, which he presided, and the Bars of Quebec and Montréal, presiding or sitting on various committees. He is a director of the American Counsel Association.

Mr. Amyot’s involvement  with the business circles and the community is equally noteworthy. For many years, he has been a director of L’Oréal Canada Inc. In 2004, he was appointed director of Xentel DM Inc. He currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf and was a director of the Montréal Symphony Orchestra.

In 2009, Mr. Amyot was a recipient of the Québec Bar’s honorary title of Emeritus Lawyer.
